FAQs: all you need to know about solar PV & battery storage

Got a question?

Is solar expensive?

Solar is more financially accessible than ever before with Cardinal Integrated Services. You can pay for the system outright or explore our range of monthly finance options to ensure affordability. Not only that but there is no VAT.

Swap your monthly bill costs for solar panels by redirecting your current electricity direct debit.

Stop renting your energy from huge retailers and take back the power for yourself. Find out if you qualify by speaking to one of the team.

What if its not sunny or my roof is shaded?

PV Solar panels use UV to create energy for your home. As long as there is daylight your panels should be producing power.

Sometimes we advise using optimisers to maximise generation depending on your roofs sun exposure. Shading on your roof may reduce savings. To find out more, talk to one of our specialists.

Where are we based?

Although we are based in Hampshire and focus a lot of our energy in the local community and on the south coast for both residential and commercial installations, we have the ability to travel & work nationwide.

Do I need a battery?

Batteries can optimise savings by storing any excess energy from the solar to use more freely and even power your home from the panel generation at night.

Use your battery to maximise earnings from and to the grid.

Sizing batteries appropriately is key for maximising the benefits of them which all depends on your usage and energy habits. Speak to a solar specialist to find out if you actually need one.

Who fits my system?

We do.

Cardinal Integrated Services installers are all in house. No need to worry about sub contractors and/or being left stuck without any help. We have world class customer care and our service doesn’t stop at payment. Our aftercare is of paramount importance.

Do I need planning permission?

In most cases – no. It is classed as permitted development.

Unless you are heritage listed, in a conservation / national trust / green belt area or you’d like a ground mounted system. The best thing to do is talk to one of our solar specialists so we can look at your local area and any potential restrictions. We always advise speaking to your local council for accurate information.

Whats the feed in tariff?

FITs change from retailer to retailer and we advise that you shop around for the best tariff for your needs.

Feed in tariffs are what the energy companies will pay you for any excess power you send to the grid.

Consider a battery option if you would rather use any excess yourself. Or better yet, try both!
